OCD Thoughts Don't Bother You Because They're True...

According to Vanessa

"I think of OCD as a class in paradoxes. It turns your strengths into weaknesses and your joys into chores. It protects you from danger only to attack from within. It’s impossible to understand because it often makes no sense, and that is perhaps the most painful part of all.

When I work with individuals with OCD and OCD-related disorders, I describe the thoughts as ‘sticky.’ They don’t bother you because they’re true, they bother you because you think they shouldn’t stick around if they aren’t true. I’ll help you understand that it's okay if your thoughts don’t make sense. I’ll offer you a new way to look at yourself, one that will make it easier to accept and treat the ‘sticky’ thoughts and do what is most important to you even when it seems impossible."
