River City OCD Clinic offers ADHD evaluations, cognitive and intellectual testing, and personality assessment for children, adolescents, and adults ages 10 and older.
Assessment brings together relevant history, clinical interviews, and appropriate standardized measures to help answer specific questions about your functioning and guide useful next steps.
Looking for a learning-disorder evaluation? We do not currently provide academic achievement testing or evaluations to diagnose specific learning disorders involving reading, writing, or mathematics. Our ADHD and cognitive testing services do not replace a learning-disorder evaluation.
Assessment Services We Offer
The evaluation begins with the questions you want help answering. Your psychologist will discuss whether our available assessment services are appropriate before proceeding with testing.
Not everyone needs the same tests or the same type of evaluation.
ADHD Evaluations
ADHD evaluations examine difficulties with attention, organization, impulsivity, activity level, and related everyday functioning.
The process considers how concerns developed, where they occur, and how they affect school, work, relationships, or responsibilities. It also considers other factors that may contribute to similar difficulties.
An evaluation may include clinical interviews, relevant records, standardized measures, and information from parents, teachers, partners, or others when appropriate and with the necessary permission.
ADHD is not established by an IQ score or a single questionnaire. Findings are interpreted together to develop diagnostic impressions and recommendations.
Cognitive and Intellectual Testing
Cognitive testing, sometimes called IQ testing, examines aspects of thinking such as reasoning, problem-solving, working memory, and processing speed, depending on the measures used.
Results can help describe a person’s pattern of cognitive strengths and difficulties and inform recommendations related to the evaluation’s purpose.
Cognitive testing does not directly measure academic achievement in reading, writing, or mathematics. It does not, by itself, establish or rule out a specific learning disorder.
Personality Assessment
Personality assessment can help explore emotional functioning, patterns of thinking and responding, and questions about psychological symptoms.
Depending on the referral question, it may contribute to diagnostic clarification or treatment planning.

Looking for a Learning Disorder Evaluation?
We do not currently offer academic achievement testing or evaluations to diagnose specific learning disorders, including concerns commonly described as dyslexia, dysgraphia, or dyscalculia.
If your primary question concerns a possible learning disability, seek a provider who specifically offers learning disorder evaluations and can assess the relevant academic skills.
ADHD and learning disorders can occur together. An ADHD evaluation at our clinic does not determine whether a separate learning disorder is also present.
Before scheduling, tell us what you need the evaluation to address and whether a school, college, employer, or other organization has requested particular documentation. That helps us clarify whether our services fit your needs before you invest time and money.
What to Expect During the Assessment
Psychological assessment involves more than completing a test and receiving a score.
The process generally includes:

Clarifying the purpose: Discussing your concerns, goals, and the questions you want the evaluation to address.

Reviewing relevant history: Gathering information about development, symptoms, previous treatment, and everyday functioning.

Selecting appropriate measures: Choosing assessment tools suited to the referral question and the person’s age.

Not every evaluation includes every type of testing. The assessment is tailored to its purpose and the questions our services can reasonably address.
Your Results and Recommendations
Following the evaluation, you’ll receive a written report that includes:

Individualized recommendations

Guidance about possible next steps
Depending on the findings, recommendations may inform psychotherapy, discussions with a prescribing provider, strategies for daily functioning, or requests for school or workplace support.
An evaluation does not guarantee a diagnosis, a prescription, or approval for accommodations. Schools, colleges, employers, and other organizations determine their own documentation requirements and make their own decisions.
If you need a report for a particular purpose, share those requirements before testing begins.

Estimated Cost: Approximately $2,000
Actual cost may vary depending on the assessment needed. A Good Faith Estimate is provided before testing.
Initial Appointment: Approximately 1 hour
Testing Time: Typically 3+ hours, depending on the evaluation
Report Turnaround: Approximately 3–4 weeks after testing is completed, sometimes sooner; missing questionnaires or records may affect the timeline

Meet the Assessing Psychologist
Assessments are conducted by Dr. Brandon Bumbalough, PhD, HSPP, a licensed psychologist with extensive training in psychological assessment, ADHD, OCD, anxiety, and related concerns.
Dr. Bumbalough currently maintains a limited psychotherapy schedule at River City OCD Clinic while continuing to provide comprehensive psychological assessments.
